THE ROMAN LEGIONARY MARINE
LEGIO ROMANA CLASSIS NAUTICA

Representing the Roman Navy in 1st century a.c.e, we try to follow more or less the description of Marcus Junkelmann (German expert on Ancient Roman Militaria), but we feel free to ad some outfit features cause this unit was always looking for an excellent impressive appearance specially on the Pompa representing proudly the whole Army (Festivity and transportation of celebrities).

BASIC FORMATION:
The unit is located in the "mare nostrum" at the military harbour of Misenum and Ravenna formed by Velites with Pila and ballista experts as well as marines navigating the nave Biremes and Triremes.

ARMORY & DRESS
All members of our unit do not wear the lorica segmentata, this is to unflexible for the amrines. Instead we wear the lorica squamata scale armor (a special version is created for female riders)* The sword is the gladius but a with a neptun symbol on the upper part.

The marine buckler is round or oval instead of rectangular and can - in his "festivities"-version - be painted very artistic with dolphins and neptun symbols.

Also the helmet: In the neck a little bit longer. But here we are very free to improvise cause the marines helmet "festivities" version was more decorated sometimes even a facial mask was made by artists to protect the cohorta classis nautica.

Our unit shares shall train the usage of ballista and Longbow (fire arrows), also the cohorta auxiliaria and the cohorta equitata (horse raiders, cavalry) and transports them to the places where they have operations to complete, and we have also cornifer (with cornu a kind of "trumpet") and signifier (standards sign holder, vexillum, aquilarium and portrait of the emperor called imago) these raiders have the honourable job of representing the glorius Legion and bringing luck with the symbols they care for. These soldiers wear helmets with animal fur heads like lions and wolfes.

* To all the historic experts: We know that there where no female riders but today we do not want to copy the past, and we liked the idea of Vectus (Praefectus Legio XIII) so we did the same for our ladies in the group.

Our first act will be the assistance an the next festival in SL Roma S.P.Q.R. in honour of our emperor Agustus and the neverending Roman empire as well in honour the priestess of Vesta and our Troup commander Vectus.

We also like to thank to Torin Golding for building a wonderful environment in which we all feel well and understanded as people who like the ancient history of Rome.

Supremus is reserved for the sim owners (JULIAN AUGUSTUS, TORIN GOLDING, ANGELIA REES) which we are thankful to may use the land we mainly act on . This gives opportunity to open temporarly some rights e.g. to put chariots on the road when our processions occur etc.

CHARTA OF THE LEGIO ROMANA CLASSIS NAUTICA (Version 1.0 given on 19.Feb.2007)

1.) COHORS CLASSIS NAUTICA is a roleplay and presentation group with the purpose of presenting festive procession and militaria in Ancient Rome. The group is not officially affiliated with ROMA or its commercial business but in fully compliance and aceptance of the sim owner authority and the emperor AUGUSTUS (Leg.Equit.Supr.)* We fully accept and follow the given SL ROMA SPQR: rules cause we are not only under the command of ROMA and serving by protection to civites we are also interested in excellent reputation for ROMA. There is no exeption on the rules given for our group and every member of our group MUST be a citizen of Roma before beeing accepted or getting a call to action. Members of CLASSIS NAUTICA or our affiliated COHORS EQUITATA do not have special rights in ROMA, they have to follow strictly the advices of the owner and the Legio XIII commander and the Emperor itself of course.

2.) Members of LEGIO ROMANA (COHORS) CLASSIS NAUTICA shall learn about ancient Marine and their history but the shall also have fun and take part on roleplay of our little fleet (2 TRIREME SHIPS)..

3.) All members are free to participate festivities or not. Anti-Discrinimation is a topic we care for and thatfore we follow the Unesco Code of Conduct in his Kofi Anan fully described version.

4.) Officers can organize Events on ROMA SPQR sim in accordance of the ROMA representatives of Owner rank or Main representative rank.

5.) The languages of our group are: main german, and in every moment multilanguage audience or members are online we switch to english. So thatfore every MARINE shall have a minimum on english langauge skills.

6.) This charta can be modified by the members in rank of Tribune or higher. A vote of two members is necessary to implement new versions. The group supports freely and without obligation nor alliance the following groups we have friendship (free subordination and roleplay invitation to) LEGION XIII Vectus Magulis and financial support by sponsors Group Social Skills HippoCampus on Plush Phi
